Snow Busters gets underway in Strathcona County
County calls for volunteers to help seniors clear their snow this winter
Crisp mornings and cold nights are reminders of winter approaching, and can cause some real worry for seniors who wonder how they will keep their sidewalks and driveways clear when the snow flies.
To help address their concern?in Sherwood Park and also in rural areas of the County, Strathcona County is calling for volunteers who can help their older neighbours with clearing snow. Having someone take care of their snow helps seniors remain in their homes safely. It helps prevent injuries due to slips and falls, and ensures seniors have safe access out for groceries and appointments.
"Seniors with physical limitations need your help to keep their walkways and driveways clear of ice and snow," says Mayor Cathy Olesen. "This is a great opportunity to enable an older person to continue living in their own home safely."

"If you're the kind of person who wants to stay fit and loves the outdoors in winter, there are a lot of people who would really appreciate the help," says Mayor Olesen.
