Unity Project

To celebrate the launch of the community's new Social Framework, let’s build Unity!

You’re invited to be a part of the Unity Project, a living art installation that showcases connections in our community. This family-friendly activity celebrates the launch of the renewed social framework Strathcona County.

The Social Framework aims to create a supported, safe and connected community by achieving outcomes of affordability, access to programs and services, safety, connectedness and inclusion in Strathcona County.

4 Ways to Celebrate!

June 15: "I'm In - Community Talk" Event

Join us for a family-friendly event unveiling the new social framework on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Broadmoor Lake Park (2001 Oak Street) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Free activities, food and entertainment.

The Unity Project is an interactive art display consisting of 31 poles in a circle that highlights the connections and uniqueness of our community. Participants will reflect on identifiers such as “I volunteer” or “I feel safe in my community” and loop yarn around the poles that they identify with, creating a web of connection. Through this experience participants will have an opportunity to reflect on how they can help create a supported, safe and connected community.

June 16 - July 1: The Unity Project

The Unity Project will remain in Broadmoor Lake Park and be available for you to participate in from June 16 to July 1, daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Come by anytime you’re in Broadmoor Lake Park when Unity is open – by yourself or with a friend or family member.

We are now scheduling schools and community groups to participate at your convenience – call 780-464-4044 or email communitytalk@strathcona.ca to book a time and we will have staff and volunteers on hand to help.
