Recognizing fellow citizens for outstanding achievements and contributions
Nominate a deserving individual or group by January 31
Every vibrant community has many individuals and groups who make it so. The same is true of Strathcona County.
"If you know a person or a group who you think deserves to be recognized for achievements, or contributions to the community, please nominate them for a Pride of Strathcona Award," says Mayor Cathy Olesen. "We need you to let us know?so we can recognize them and their accomplishments."
The Pride of Strathcona Awards is Strathcona County's civic awards program. Awards are given for significant personal achievements and giving back to the community. The categories are broad ? arts and culture, athletics, contributions to community life, and also professional achievement.
Within each of the categories, nominees come from all walks of life. They range from children to seniors. They may live in rural Strathcona County or in Sherwood Park. The achievement or contribution may have been a one-time occurrence or it may have taken place over a period of time. It may be well known in the community, or not at all.
"There are a lot of people in the County who have done and are doing amazing things," says Mayor Olesen. "We want to give them this special recognition while we also showcase the causes that inspire them."
Information about eligibility, categories and how to make a nomination. Copies of the nomination brochure are also available at Strathcona County Hall, Strathcona County Library, Heartland Hall and at recreation centres across the County.
