Biography

Peter was born in Lytham St. Annes, England and immigrated to Canada in 1952. He became a Canadian citizen in 1972. He joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1965 and retired with over 36 years of service in August of 2001. His last post was as the Officer in Charge of Strathcona County Detachment.

Peter resides in Clarkdale Meadows and has resided in Sherwood Park for a total of 22 years. He has been very involved with minor sports, coaching minor hockey for 23 years, with Sherwood Park Minor Soccer during the founding years, as well as baseball and softball. He has served on church boards and in the churches that he attended throughout his career. He is presently a member of the Heartland Alliance Church. He is also a member of the Edmonton Chapter of the Diakonos Retreat Society whose mandate is to provide a place of refuge to Emergency Services Personnel in times of need or crisis.

In October 2004 Peter was elected to Council to represent Ward 4, and in October 2007 he was acclaimed. He has been appointed to represent Council on the following committees:

  • Boards and Committees Selection Committee
  • Capital Region Board - Alternate
  • Capital Region Services to Children Linkages Committee
  • Festival Place Advisory Committee  
  • Pride of Strathcona Awards Selection Committee
  • Pioneer Housing Foundation - Chair
  • Seniors Management Services

During his time on Council, Peter has also served on:

  • Bylaw Enforcement Order Review Committee
  • Resolutions Committee
  • Capital Region Northeast Water Services Commission
  • Festival Place Society
  • Traffic Safety Board
  • Library Board
  • Subdivision and Development Appeal Board

During his RCMP career, Peter was presented with an RCMP Long Service Medal with gold clasp, the Alberta Policing Medal, the Queens Jubilee Medal and the Canada 125 Medal. This past year he received the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee medal.

Peter is married to Claudette and they have three children. The eldest son is presently serving in the RCMP in Kelowna. Their daughter is the nurse/manager of the operating room at the Cross Cancer Institute and their youngest son is employed in the land development/property management industry.

Jogging and woodworking are two of Peter's hobbies. He and Claudette are also deeply interested in the strength of the family and marriages and have made many presentations and conducted workshops on marriage issues. They also individually counsel couples on the strengthening of their marriages.

Peter looks forward to serving the County and its citizens to the best of his abilitity.
