Strathcona County proud to host 2021 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games

Strathcona County is honoured to be selected as host of the 2021 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games. The mission of Special Olympics Alberta is to enrich the lives of Albertans with intellectual disabilities through sport.
During this event, over 1,300 athletes will compete in 10 different sports including: swimming, track and field, bocce, soccer, basketball, golf, powerlifting, 10-pin bowling, rhythmic gymnastics and softball.
“Strathcona County is proud to be chosen as the host of the 2021 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games,” says Mayor Roxanne Carr. “A warm thank you to the Strathcona Special Olympics organization for their strong support of the bid to host this incredible event. We look forward to welcoming 1,300 participants and their families from across the province to our community and creating a fantastic and memorable shared experience for all.”
Strathcona County has a strong history of hosting provincial, national, and international events. The Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games promise to be a dynamic event that will highlight athletes of all abilities and inspire the community.
