Strathcona County is excited to be participating in the Canada 150 National Mosaic Mural project, as part of Canada’s confederation celebrations.

Residents are invited to provide input on a mural theme that best represents Strathcona County on Thursday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Gallery@501 (#120, 501 Festival Avenue, Sherwood Park).

Once the theme is decided, Canada 150 Mosaic artists Lewis Lavoie, Paul Lavoie and Phil Alain will create a Strathcona County inspired mural. This summer, residents will be invited to help paint 400 to 750 individual tiles that will make up the art piece. Once the Strathcona County mural is completed, it will stay in Strathcona County as a piece of public art.

Throughout Canada, a total of 80,000 tiles will comprise an overall image of train cars that is meant to visually illustrate a connection from coast to coast.
