Disposing unwanted reusable items
Do you have unwanted reusable items you want to dispose?
Not sure where to take items to be reused?
You've got options!
Charity

Donating gently used items is a great way to recycle and help out the community. But it's important to note that for health and safety reasons certain items are not accepted by charities and non-profit groups.
When unusable or unsellable items get dropped off, the organization has to pay to have the items disposed of properly. Make sure your donation is helping not hindering.
Unacceptable items include:
- mattresses and pillows
- cribs, playpens, baby and child car seats
- broken, damaged electrical items
- propane tanks, car parts and tires
- clothing and fabric that is painted, oil-covered or stained
- items left in the rain, please keep this in mind when leaving items at a donation site
These items can be dropped of at one of the Enviroservice events for proper disposal or recycling. A fee may apply for some items.
Check with the charity or non-profit group before you drop your items off. Acceptable items can vary between organizations.
Reuse Centre
The City of Edmonton has opened a permanent reuse centre located at 10004-103A Avenue.
This centre accepts many items which can be put to use for another purpose.

Reuse Directory
Use the City of Edmonton's reuse directory to find out where to take your items. All you have to do is type in your item, hit search and a list of businesses, charities and services will appear where you can take your reusables.
Reuseit Network
You can also use the Reuseit Network in Sherwood Park. This program allows people to post descriptions or photos of reusable items they want to give away onto a Web site. There is no membership fee, and all items posted must be offered free of charge. Further information on this program visit the Reuseit network website.
Freecycle
Check out the Freecycle network. Give your unwanted items to someone else in the community to enjoy.
