Leaders In Training (LIT)

Leaders in Training are teen leaders that help with Recreation Parks and Culture summer programs in the areas of of preschool, youth and culture.

  • Work. develop skills. gain valuable work experience. learn to be a leader.
  • Play. have fun. make new friends. meet other LIT's.
  • Grow. be independent. explore something new

Level I and II

What will I be doing

  • Assist Instructors with a variety of programs including sports, indoor and outdoor activities, games, arts, and crafts
  • Supervise in the pool during swim times
  • Be committed to a minimum of two weeks for each level of the program

What do I gain

  • Prepare you for future opportunities
  • Help you develop the skills to become a competent leader through a combination of training, hands-on experiences, and workshops

Level III and III+

What will I be doing - new challenges await you as a Level III LIT: 

  • Increase your responsibility and involvement in summer training and programs
  • Have the opportunity to mentor Level I LIT's
  • Ability to choose which program and facility to work in for one week
  • Assist in planning the end of summer LIT celebration
  • LIT Level III Graduation
  • FREE Certification in Standard First Aid and Level C CPR for all Level III's
    Dates and location TBA.

All LIT's

  • There is a cost of $109 to provide proper training, get-togethers and t-shirts.
  • Attend all of the LIT training
  • Work with Instructors to accumulate skills and hours required to progress to the next level of training
  • Attend at last two workshops that are each Wednesday evening where you can hang out, give feedback, work through problems or issues that you have encountered and enjoy snacks and activities!
  • Get ready for lots of exciting opportunities that are focused on leadership, new challenges, and memorable experiences.
