Children's fitness tax credit
Did you know that if your child was under the age of 16 at any time during the tax year and was involved in a program of physical fitness or activity longer than eight weeks, you may be eligible for the Children's Fitness Tax Credit, that was introduced in 2007, for up to $500.
Eligible programs
Based on Canada Revenue Agency's eligibility criteria, the following Recreation, Parks and Culture activities are eligible:
- Youth wellness activities (including sports, teen fitness, special interest, skating and movement)
- Aquatic programs (minimum of eight weeks)
Note: School lessons are not eligible as they are part of the school curriculum - Summer Camps at Millennium Place and the Glen Allan Recreation Complex (five consecutive days)
- The Millennium Card and Glen Allan Recreation Complex child/youth pass
- Broadmoor Golf Course junior Pass
- Strathcona Wilderness Centre child/youth ski pass
Programs and membership fees through Recreation, Parks and Culture on your receipts may be eligible for the Children's Fitness Tax Credit. Please retain your receipts that you receive at the time of registration or when purchasing a membership. When registering online with click-it, remember to print your receipt.
Do you require a replacement receipt for programs or memberships?
- You can now print-off past receipts on Click-it. Sign-in and go to your history to print your past receipts.
- Contact any recreation facility (Millennium Place, Kinsmen Leisure Centre or Glen Allan Recreation Complex) or the Rec Admin Office.( Does not include Millennium Cards).
