Home-school art programs

History

Home-school Art Programs began as a pilot project in Spring 2009. The goal was to expand daytime arts offerings to include programs that would complement the arts instruction home-school children were receiving at home. Programs provide a supportive and encouraging environment where kids can explore their creative side.

Benefits

Meet other home-school families in the community, and take some time out for yourself as your child enjoys an art program with us. Programs are designed to encourage the creativity and imagination in each child. Whether you're linking an activity to the curriculum you're teaching, or just want a fun experience for your child, these programs offer a balance of both fun and learning.

Age Range

We are currently offering programs for 5-7, 8-10 and 11-15 year olds. For children under 5 years, please check out the regular programs offered by Preschool in the Recreation Guide.

Current programs: Painting, drawing, printmaking, pastels and more. Several programs use an art exhibition for inspiration. Go to Click-It to register. All programs are offered at the Smeltzer House.

Did You Know?

We also offer adult art programs, with many short try-it style workshops. Come explore your creative side.

Feedback

As we develop these programs further, we encourage your feedback and ideas. Topics we're looking at include curriculum connections, days and times to offer programs and more.
