Playground and School Zones safety

Child crossing streetIn order to protect the children in our community, speed enforcement, stop sign infractions and seatbelts will be targeted on an ongoing basis.

The enforcement campaign will be conducted throughout Strathcona County. Under the Traffic Safety Act, all school zones and playground zones now have a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h, including school and playground zones on primary highways located near Ministik, Ardrossan and Uncas Schools.


School zones are in effect when school is in session during the following times:

·  8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

·  11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

·  3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Playground zones are in effect all year: 


 

 

8:30 a.m. to one hour after sunset.
