Work in conjunction with the RCMP to provide immediate assistance, support, information and referrals to victims of crime and trauma in the community.

Volunteer Advocates possess the following characteristics and skills:

  • Genuine interest in helping others
  • Strong communication skills
  • Respect for confidentiality
  • Good driving record
  • Access to a vehicle
  • Ability to volunteer 5+ hours per week
  • Ages 18+

Volunteer Advocates receive formal training by community professionals in many areas including:

  • Interpersonal skills development
  • Crisis intervention
  • Residential and business security
  • Criminal justice system
  • Bereavement
  • Stress management
  • Suicide intervention
  • Resource agency networking
  • Family violence intervention
  • Sexual assault intervention
