History on operation wipe-out

The level of graffiti in Strathcona County has visibly risen in recent years.
Together, we all can do our part to stop this vandalism - Report it
What the Strathcona County RCMP detachment did:
In mid-April 2007 under project name Operation Wipeout, a special task force began to investigate graffiti occurrences, to identify persons responsible, and to approach property owners who were victims of vandalism whom may not have reported the incident. As of April 26, 2007, eight people have been charged and over 90 occurrences have been resolved through this effort.
What Strathcona County and community organizations are doing in partnership
Strathcona County is encouraging and coordinating community action to prevent graffiti, and is doing its part to clean it up. This includes:
- Strathcona County staff: are documenting and reporting any graffiti on municipal buildings and amenities to assist RCMP in their investigation, then ensuring the quick removal of the graffiti
- The Strathcona County Youth Council: talking to other students about how young people can help discourage graffiti and promote positive ways of expression.
- The Chamber of Commerce: providing graffiti prevention tips to businesses
- Canada Post and utility companies: being asked to help identify and deal with graffiti on their properties
