What is the purpose of creating a Country Residential Area Concept Plan?

The main goal of the plan is to ensure that all future development within the plan area works toward the County's general goal of achieving sustainability.

As a result of this Area Concept Plan, Strathcona County's Municipal Development Plan will require a number of amendments to ensure consistency across documents.

Summary of concurrent MDP amendments

The proposed Area Concept Plan also requires that Strathcona County's Land Use Bylaw 8-2001 is amended to add three new land use disricts and amend the exising C-Country Residential District.

This area consists of lands east and southeast of Sherwood Park, south of Highway 16 and an area surrounding the hamlet of Ardrossan.
