Sportsfield Strategy

On June 22, 2010, Strathcona County Council approved the Sportsfield Strategy which provides long-term direction for outdoor sportsfield re-development, development and management. A visionary Open Space and Recreation Facility Strategy, approved in 2008, recognized sportsfields as a $30-$50 million recreational asset that needed to be carefully managed. The Sportsfield Strategy provides a comprehensive inventory of existing sportsfields and assessment of their use. The process to develop the strategy included extensive public and sportsfield user consultation opportunities.
