How we use the census information
The population count helps the County obtain federal and provincial grants, many which are calculated on a per-capita basis. Every additional resident increases the grant dollars to Strathcona and ensures that we receive our fair share.

The census information also serves as a foundation for planning new community services and enhancing existing ones. An accurate count of residents and the number in each age group is essential for Strathcona County to plan ahead for the municipal services that residents will require.
