The Aquatic Instructor I will have these responsibilities:

  • instruct aquatic programs with the highest degree of safety and supervision
  • prepare the area for activity, organize equipment and restore after classes to ensure a safe work site
  • complete administrative duties that include taking attendance, writing lesson plans, tracking daily progress on evaluation sheets, and filling out evaluation cards and summary sheets

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
  • CPR Level C
  • Aquatic Emergency Care or Standard First Aid
  • the ability to work independently in a constantly changing environment
  • the ability to work efficiently in a team when delivering lessons or responding to an emergency situation
  • customer service skills to deal with the public in a positive, professional and constructive manner

The hourly wage range for this part-time position is $14.28 to $17.85. Evening and weekend availability is a requirement, and daytime availability is an asset. Aquatic Instructors will be expected to attend mandatory training sessions.

Applications for competition #38-2009 will be accepted on an on-going basis. Positions will be filled as suitable candidates are found.
