Truck Driver III
Transportation and Agriculture Services
This position will complete assignments in urban and/or rural areas with the following responsibilities:
- Operate equipment hauler used in transportation, road maintenance and construction work
- Load and unload heavy duty construction and automotive equipment loads, transport and unload supplies, materials, equipment and machinery at work sites, storage yards and shops
- Perform miscellaneous duties at the operator level or in the servicing and maintenance of equipment
- Maintain records related to the assigned work
- Oversee work of other persons as assigned to the specific task being performed
The successful candidate will have the following:
- A valid Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s licence: Class 1
- A valid WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificates
- Considerable experience in heavy duty vehicle operation
- Ability to operate heavy duty vehicles, (such as equipment hauler) equipment and materials used in transportation, road maintenance and construction work, including low or high bed tractor trailer units
- Knowledge of approved methods and initiative and good judgement in loading, hauling and unloading all types and sizes of materials, supplies, machines and equipment
- Sufficient physical strength and condition to permit the lifting and moving of moderately heavy objects
- Ability to tarp and tie down loads in accordance to cargo securement legislation
- Knowledge of standard practices related to preventative maintenance and circle checks used in the operation of the equipment
- Willing to promote a safe work environment through commitment to department OHS objectives
The hourly rate for this position is $26.85 to $28.06 as per the AUPE Collective Agreement, working an average of 40 hours per week, depending on the season, and may involve a limited amount of overtime.
