Senior IT Business Analyst (Business Analysis & Project Management)

Strathcona County operates Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for managing financials, procurement and human resources. JD Edwards World is the County’s prime ERP.

The Senior IT Business Analyst will provide business process expertise in the areas of business and systems analysis, project management and ongoing information technology support for Strathcona County in the area of ERP and related systems.  Through strong team foundations, the Senior IT Business Analyst will strive for continuous improvement of business process, incorporating existing and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • conduct opportunity assessments by identifying and evaluating software solutions, emerging technologies, industry standards and best practices with the objective of evolving and leveraging technology to meet changing needs then prepare and present recommendations
  • assist in the planning and preparing of businesses cases and budget material in support of strategic objectives; provide leadership for technical innovations and business application projects to ensure the County’s strategic goals are achieved
  • lead IT projects; define project charters and plans; manage entire project life cycles, including software/vendor procurement, risk and change management
  • perform business analysis and business process re-engineering; collect and document business requirements; translate business requirements into system requirements; assist with testing, including writing and executing test scripts; maintain data quality efforts; develop and deliver end-user trainings; facilitate implementation efforts; develop and deliver system reports as necessary
  • analyze and resolve issues; provide user instruction on ERP functionality; support and maintain the County’s investment in ERP technology; plan and conduct application workshops/training; advise on technical issues and produce user documentation
  • lead junior staff by demonstrating dependability, reliability, consistency, flexibility and teamwork 

Qualifications

  • a degree in Computing Science or another related Information Technology discipline with a minimum of five years Business Analysis and Project Management experience on Information Technology projects
  • experience with accounting principals and financial applications would be considered a major asset
  • knowledge of JD Edwards World would be considered a major asset
  • mature interpersonal, communication and writing skills with the ability to develop and present formal recommendations and effectively chair meetings of senior staff
  • proficient time management, organizational and leadership skills and the ability to successfully manage teams
  • strong business acumen with the capacity to fully analyze operations, objectives, functional business requirements and processes for disparate departments
  • a demonstrated ability to investigate, design and implement solutions
  • a commitment to continuous growth
  • a demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities effectively and efficiently

The annual salary range for this permanent position is $76,833 to $96,041, working 35 hours per week.
