Responsibilities:

  • Provide permit and inspection information, advice, and assistance to internal and external customers relating to application process, qualification criteria, applicable fees, timing, and stages required
  • Provide information and advice to internal and external customers relating to programs, services, and procedures including built green rebates, furnace rebates, and Permit Services Reports
  • Receive and review permit applicants for compliance with eligibility criteria and issue permits
  • Receive and review inspection requests and assign inspections in accordance with available resources
  • Maintain branch and department statistics for permits and inspections, provide daily activity report to the Coordinator, and prepare and distribute monthly reports
  • Prepare and issue Permit Services Reports and conduct file searches
  • Process rebates in accordance with department policy
  • Provide permit and inspection related administrative services such as receipting, refunding, preparing correspondence, and maintaining contractor information on Posse

Qualifications:

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Designation of Powers from the Safety Codes Council as a Designated Permit Issuer for Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Gas permits
  • Excellent business office administration skills, a good knowledge of construction terminology and practices including permit criteria and inspection stages, and basic accounting skills
  • Understanding of the Safety Codes Act, Permit Regulation, Safety Codes Bylaw, and County guidelines relating to Safety Codes permit eligibility and criteria
  • Good communication, interpersonal and customer services skills to provide information to the public as well as professional and technical clients
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills to handle a high volume of varied tasks in a deadline driven environment while maintaining quality control

The annual salary range for this permanent position is $37,583 to $46,974. In addition to providing a dynamic working environment, we offer a 35-hour work week and a competitive benefits package.
