Material Management Assistant

We are seeking a Material Management Assistant to the Material Management Controller to join our team for a temporary period.
Your experience in ethical purchasing and working in a Fire and EMS atmosphere combined with your knowledge of computer inventory software will be essential to your success in this temporary position.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Assisting the Material Management Controller with the maintenance of material management, the purchase of daily consumables to support six emergency services facilities, the monitoring and maintenance of repair and maintenance contracts for operational equipment in accordance with ISO standards
- Maintaining a data base for supplies and equipment, monitoring and tracking inventory levels and ensuring adequate stock
- Assisting with the purchase of uniform and equipment and organizing vendor appointments
- Providing back up for the Material Management Controller and responding to telephone inquiries
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with extensive experience in ethical purchasing methods and practices
- An excellent knowledge of supply sources, information and market conditions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of computer inventory software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Email
- Experience working in a Fire and EMS atmosphere
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a noisy atmosphere with competing and conflicting demands
- Possession of a valid Alberta Driver’s license, Class 5 and the willingness to travel between fire stations, job and vendor sites
- The physical ability to frequently lift heavy objects.
The hourly salary range is: $18.45 to $23.06 working 20 hours per week until December 31, 2011, with the possibility of extension.
