Health Care Aide

The Health Care Aide will provide in-home assistance with daily living to individuals experiencing health-related difficulties.
Responsibilities include:
- follow individual care plans to provide routine in-home personal care to clients; includes bathing, providing skin, nail, dental and hair care, assisting with dressing, and helping to move, transfer and reposition the client
- provide specialized procedures as instructed by the health care professionals, including changing dressings, apply prescribed stockings, braces, medical ointments and equipment, and assisting with physiotherapy and special exercises
- may include light housekeeping duties
- report changes in clients’ condition and atypical circumstances
- provide emotional support to clients
- help clients to regain or maintain his or her independence in daily living
- attend related training sessions as required
The ideal candidate will have these qualifications:
- certification from a recognized program for health personnel
- current certification in First Aid and CPR
- excellent communication and listening skills
- the ability to maintain client confidentiality and assist families without personal judgment
- the ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- the ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and effective manner
- the ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks
- a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license
Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to present a current driver’s abstract and undergo a criminal records check.
The hourly range for these part-time positions is $20.09-$25.11, working a variety of shifts that include daytime, evenings, and weekends. Travel time is paid and mileage reimbursed.
