Fire Fighter EMT/Paramedic

Strathcona County Emergency Services will be conducting pre-employment testing for Fire Fighter EMT/Paramedics for a hiring date in September 2012.
Strathcona County Emergency Services provides a totally integrated emergency service (fire and ambulance) responsible for all aspects of fire suppression, emergency medical service, rescue, dangerous goods response, fire investigations, fire inspections and public education.
Qualifications:
- Valid Alberta Class 3 and 4 Driver’s License and Air Brakes Endorsement, with no more than seven demerits
- Minimum Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
- Ability to pass medical and physical standards including normal colour vision and visual acuity of 20/40 combined uncorrected (laser eye surgery at least one year prior will be considered)
- One of the following:
- NFPA 1001 – Level 2 and EMT
- EMT-P (NFPA 1001 is preferred)
- Second year Paramedic students and current EMT students (with NFPA 1001) are welcome to apply
- EMTs and Paramedics must be registered with Alberta College of Paramedics by date of hire
The annual 2011 salary range is $66,802 to $89,070, working 42 hours per week. Current IAFF members are eligible for the salary matching plan. Other experience may be considered.
