Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Facility Supervisor to join our Millennium Place team.  You are a seasoned leader with practical experience in directing all aspects of facility operations for a large, fast-paced, innovative recreational facility.  You will apply your exceptional leadership skills and abilities to provide guidance and establish recreational services and operations that achieve organizational objectives and results.   You have proven ability to develop positive outcomes for community partnerships, managing risks, promoting health and wellness and managing a large budget.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and guidance in the delivery of service for the facility
  • Ensure the development and delivery of service and operations are customer-focused
  • Develop and lead a strong operating team of staff including the recruitment, training and coaching of the team
  • Implement, monitor and promote wellness and recreational programs
  • Oversee facility marketing plan
  • Develop and review structured and unstructured products and services to meet customer needs and interests
  • Coordinate, develop and control the facilities budget• Negotiate, manage and monitor agreements and service contracts
  • Prepare contract specifications for community partners and negotiate and administer maintenance contracts
  • Manage risks including ensuring health and safety codes and standards are met

Qualifications

  • Degree in Recreation Administration, Business or related discipline with a minimum of 5-7 years in a supervisory capacity for progressively responsible roles, preferably in a large multi-functional recreation facility setting
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to provide leadership, direction and guidance for a large facility
  • Strong supervisory abilities including well-developed leadership skills to motivate, direct staff and foster a sense of teamwork for 22 full time and over 300 staff
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sound organizational, analytical and problem skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, manage and balance a variety of interests and objectives and stressful situations
  • Experience in managing budgets and planning
  • Understanding and awareness of trends, market conditions and opportunities
  • Possess certification in The Alberta Recreation Facility Personnel Arena and Pool Operators I & II, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Understanding and experience with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Code and Emergency Preparedness
  • Courses and training such as Leadership for Safety Excellence, Certificate in Municipal Management and Leadership is considered an asset
  • Ability to lift, carry equipment, work evenings and weekends/varying shifts and hours
  • Required to carry a cell phone/pager and travel is necessary
  • A criminal record check

The annual salary range for this permanent position is $87,809 - $109,762.
