Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate the ice resurfacer
  • Maintain the ice resurfacer and other specialized equipment
  • Maintain good customer relations with all clients
  • Properly maintain recreational ice surfaces
  • Prepare the facility for use by ensuring the building and surrounds are safe, clean and set up according to customer needs
  • Perform cleaning and set up duties as required
  • Carry out plant checks and maintain ice conditions as required by provincial standards; document and troubleshoot as required
  • Understand and use the safety, emergency and security procedures for the facility

Qualifications:

  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid Training
  • Class Five Driver’s Licence

The following qualifications would be an asset:

  • Arena Operator I certificate with one season of arena work experience
  • Ability to install and maintain arena ice
  • Training in ice re-surfacer operation, including safe-handling of propane and proper use of charging systems
  • Current WHMIS certification
  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of ice quality standards and maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems, including maintenance and trouble-shooting procedures
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to guests

Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to submit a current driver’s abstract and a criminal records check.

The hourly wage range is $ 22.50 to $ 28.12, working part-time hours in a variety of shifts which include hours during the day, evenings, weekends and holidays.
