Do you want the opportunity to create positive social change?  Put your creativity to the test in a high energy, dynamic human services environment.  With a focus on prevention and early intervention, the Community Developer will work collaboratively with community partners to address complex social issues such as community affordability.

As a Community Developer you will work on relevant social issues through assessment of our community needs, identifying root causes of those needs, and identifying gaps in service. You will lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies to address these needs. These strategies will include strengthening the capacity of residents, including specific populations such as youth, seniors or marginalized groups, and may include developing pilot programs/projects to address these issues.

You will provide guidance to community groups including group facilitation, researching and preparing grant information, strategic planning and on-going support. Through your role you will facilitate action to improve community social conditions and enhance quality of life, by working with internal and external partners from various disciplines.

Applicants must have the following education and work experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in social work, human ecology, psychology, or equivalent field with a minimum of four years experience specializing in community development
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and a strong ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written) in one-to-one settings and as a team member
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in planning, process development, including the development of new initiatives
  • Ability to analyze and identify root causes of social issues and develop effective strategies to address these issues
  • Strong organizational skills, problem solving and a high degree of initiative, motivation and integrity
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, a flexible work schedule, work environment and work demands

The annual salary range for this permanent position is $60,872 to $76,090, working 35 hours per week.
