High Five Awards 2009
Give your role model a high five
Do you know someone who deserves a High Five? The Strathcona County Youth Council wants to help you give them one!
The High
Five Awards are a youth driven awards program developed by the Strathcona County Youth Council to honour the adults who have made a difference in the lives of children and youth in Strathcona County.
What are the High Five Awards?
The High Five Awards are based on Developmental Assets, developed by the Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets. They are the positive experiences and personal qualities that children and youth need to grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.
Some examples of assets include:
- feeling supported by your family
- feeling motivated to do well in school
- having positive self-esteem
- feeling safe in your community
The awards are divided into four categories:
- Kindergarten - Grade 3
- Grades 4 - 6
- Grades 7 - 9
- Grades 10 - 12
