High Five Awards 2008
In 2008 the Strathcona County Youth Council, along with Family and Community Services developed a new awards program for children and youth to acknowledge adults who have
made a difference in their lives. Children and youth, divided into four age categories, recognized positive role models in their lives by nominating them for a 'High Five'.
The awards program is based on Developmental Assets, which are qualities children and youth need to grow up to be healthy, caring and responsible adults. Examples of developmental assets include: feeling valued by our community, feeling motivated to succeed in school, or eing involved in creative activities. The High Five Awards were created to honour adults who have helped children and youth develop these assets.
