Leading by example is an important way adults can encourage children and youth to act in positive ways.
As adults, whether as a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, neighbour or business owner, we are all in a position to mentor the younger people in our community.
For instance, if you make a mistake, like we all do, admit it and deal with it honestly and with integrity. Be sure the message is about doing the right thing, even when it is not easy.
It's challenging to role model positive character, but since so many youth in Strathcona County have an adult to look up to, it's a good thing to keep in mind.
Remember...they are watching.
