Family Day Unplugged
Congratulations to Strathcona County for Unplugging this Family Day!
On Family Day, February 20, 2012, residents of Strathcona County chose to spend a combined total of 22,427 hours unplugged from technology to connect with family, friends and their community.
For a second year, the Town of Beaumont is the winner of the Family Day Unplugged Challenge - disconnecting for technology for 52,270 hours. As a collective group, the seventeen participating communities unplugged for 121,035 hours. Way to go!
Here are some ways people CONNECTED this Family Day:
- "As soon as I woke up, I unplugged everything. We cleaned the house, took the dogs for a walk and went mini golfing."
- We made pancakes together, went sledding and visited the Telus World of Science".
- "Went cross country skiing and visited grandparents".
- "We played hide-and-seek, skated and went skiing".
- "Ate all three meals as a family at the table".
Ways to CONNECT every day:
- Cook dinner or bake cookies together as a family
- Have a family game night or play hide-and-seek
- Take a walk by yourself or with a neighbor
- Go sledding, bowling or play in the snow
- Read a book or meet a friend for coffee
