Here are some useful resources and links for public information for emergency preparedness and during times of emergency events.

In a community crisis, we would notify the public through media such as TV, radio and via this website. If necessary (depending on the situation) emergency personnel may go house to house or set up a telephone inquiry centre.

Alberta Emergency Alert System
A public alerting system owned by the Government of Alberta. It is provided in partnership with broadcasters, government and communities. Alerting can be received by community members in a number of ways including interuptions on tv and radio, on the Alberta Emergency Alert website, RSS feed, and on Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets.

UPDATEline 1-866-653-9959
The UPDATEline is a 24-hour number that residents can call to hear current information about non-routine industry activity (unusual noises, alarms, training, flares, odours) and get emergency incident updates.

The UPDATEline carries messages in the areas of North Strathcona, Fort Saskatchewan, Sturgeon and Lamont, and for Sherwood Park and East Edmonton.

Automated call-out system for residents living in north Strathcona
Residents living in north Strathcona can register to receive telephone messages if a serious incident happens in their immediate area. Strathcona County encourages residents to register their contact information through Northeast Region CAER.
