Do I need a fireworks permit?
To legally purchase, possess or privately discharge fireworks within Strathcona County, a fireworks permit is required. Learn more about important rules surrounding the use of fireworks.
The permit is a two part form:
Part 1: Authorizes the permit holder to legally purchase or possess fireworks in Strathcona County. Applicants are requested to provide a maximum dollar value for the fireworks they intend to purchase or store. This part of the permit is valid until the fireworks are discharged.
Part 2: Authorizes the permit holder to legally discharge private fireworks on their property. This part of the permit is valid for a single discharge during a maximum two-day specified range of dates and times (for example, over the span of a single weekend). If for any reason the fireworks display does not take place on the date or time specified on this part of the permit, an additional discharge permit must be obtained. Please phone 780-449-9651 to update your permit Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. if required.
There is no fee for a fireworks permit. Strathcona County fireworks regulations are based on the Alberta Fire code, Section 5.8.
