Neighbour considerations
Strathcona County Emergency Services reminds residents to be considerate of their neighbours when burning. Pit (recreational) fires should be kept small and relatively smokeless. Excessive smoke is a pollutant that is not only unpleasant, but can also be an irritant to health issues such as asthma.
Enjoyment of your backyard fire pit should not affect your neighbours' enjoyment of their own backyards.
Residents with complaints of this nature are encouraged to call 9-1-1. If it is determined that a resident is burning improperly, penalties may be imposed at the Fire Marshal's discretion.
