Economic Development & Tourism Strategy
In order to align with the County Vision and Strategic Plan and based on the department 4E review conducted in 2009 an Economic Development and Tourism Strategy has been developed for the department to provide focus and department direction. The strategy was developed through profiling of the community and the businesses with the County and through extensive public consultation processes. The development of the strategy also considered the provincial, national and global economies and is guided by the County's Sustainability Frameworks and especially the Economic Sustainability Framework.
Economic and Community Profile (16 Pages) – This section completes a demographic assessment, a review of labour characteristics and a review of Business patterns.
SWOT Analysis (4 Pages) – This section is a consolidation of the public feedback and identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the community.
Targeted Sectors (23 pages) – This section provides background materials regarding each of the targeted sectors.
Strategic Objectives \ Guiding Principles (6 Pages) – This section advises on operating processes. Action
Recommendations (14 pages) – This section provides some recommendations for actions in the target sectors.
Department Comparisons (2 Pages) – This section compares department resources and activities.
Monitoring and Metrics (5 pages) – This section provides the basis for monitoring activity. Appendices (8 pages)
