Focusing on women's wellness

January 17, 2012

Women in Strathcona County are invited to nurture their own needs by attending a one-day women’s wellness conference.

Now in its ninth year, the Windows on Wellness Conference provides sessions of particular interest to women, with a broad-spectrum of topics ranging from reflexology and retirement planning, to laughter yoga and re-connecting after having kids.

“This conference is for any woman who wants to explore any area of her life: social, emotional, financial, physical, family or personal,” says Mayor Linda Osinchuk. “The goal of this conference is to provide a fun and welcoming environment for sharing and learning, as well as recognize the important role women have within our community.”

The conference takes place March 17 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Bev Facey High School in Sherwood Park. The $45 registration fee includes a choice of three sessions, continental breakfast, hot buffet lunch and access to innovative display tables. The Drumming for Wellness opening activity sets the tone for the day. Group drumming has a positive impact on the immune system, brain functioning, mood and stress reduction.

Women are encouraged to register before February 17, to be entered into the early bird registration draw for a chance to win a Karyn Chopik Studio necklace, courtesy of Purple Daisy Flower Shop. The conference registration deadline is March 9. All registrants are entered into the Grand Prize Draw, which consists of a total escape full-day spa package, courtesy of Headquarters Salon, Spa and Laser.

Register early, this conference sells out! Further information about the Windows on Wellness Women’s Conference, including topic descriptions and registration information, is available online or by calling 780-464-4044.
