May 17, 2010
Candidate information for Strathcona County’s 2010 election, to be held on Monday, October 18, is now available online at www.strathcona.ca/election.
The information covers everything a candidate needs to know if they are planning to run for office. Topics include eligibility, duties and responsibilities of mayor and councillors, remuneration and benefits, campaigning and nomination day.
“In keeping with the County’s focus on environmental sustainability, all election information will be available on-line,” says Glenna Kemp, Returning Officer for Strathcona County. “We encourage candidates to print only what they need.”
Candidates with limited access can request hard copies of the on-line content by contacting the Election Office at Lower Concourse, 2001 Sherwood Drive, Sherwood Park, Alberta, T8A 3W7, 780-410-8585; election@strathcona.ab.ca.
“Voting is both a right and a responsibility,” says Glenna Kemp. “We encourage all voters to exercise their right to have a say in who governs this County.”
