Going to be away on October 18? You can still vote by Special Ballot

Voters who are physically unable to attend a voting station, or who are going to be away from Strathcona County on Election Day, may vote by Special Ballot. Starting July 20, requests for Special Ballots can be made in writing, by phone, fax, email or in person.

Special Ballot packages will be mailed after September 21. Completed ballots must be returned to the Election Office in County Hall by 4 p.m. on Election Day, October 18.

Special Ballots are one of several options for the convenience of voters who are physically unable to go to a voting station, will be away from Strathcona County on Election Day, are candidates, or working as an election officer, official agent or scrutineer.

Other alternatives for these voters include:

  • voting at an Advance Vote, or
  • Voting in lodges and care centres that qualify for an Institutional Vote

The October 18 election will be held to select Strathcona County’s mayor and eight councillors, as well as trustees for Elk Island Public and Elk Island Catholic Schools.

  • As the election approaches, additional information for voters will be provided on the County’s website, in local newspapers and through the mail.
