Annual Assessment and Tax Notices

Taxes are due on the specified dates. If you have not yet received your notice, please contact the Assessment and Tax department without delay. Failure to receive a tax notice or loss of a tax notice will not be accepted as a reason for late payment.

If paying by mail; A tax payment that is sent by mail is deemed to have received according to the Canada Post date stamped on the envelope (please enclose the remittance portion of the notice with your payment)

Deadline for payment of Property Taxes:  Thursday June 29, 2012

Late payment penalties: Current year taxes that remain unpaid after June 29, 2012 are subject to the following penalties: 

  • July 1 – 3 per cent 
  • August 1 – 6 per cent
  • September 1 – 9 per cent 

Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP)
Strathcona County offers an installment payment plan that enables you to pay your taxes in 12 equal amounts. To enrol for 2013, please contact us at the phone numbers below.

Payment options

For your convenience, there are a number of ways to pay your property tax.

1. Internet banking 
With your bank, credit union or other financial institution. Your tax roll number is your account number. When making a payment online, confirmation from your bank is your receipt. If paying on the due date, please ensure that your bank is still able to process the transaction for that days date.

2. Telephone banking 
Contact your financial institution to set up your account.

3. In person – at your financial institution
Chartered banks and credit unions will accept payment. Your entire Assessment and Tax Notice is required when paying. If paying on the due date, please ensure that your bank is still able to process the tansaction for that days date.

4. Mail 
Payments can be mailed to:

Post-dated cheques are accepted, dated no later than June 29, 2012
Make cheques payable to Strathcona County.  Canadian Funds Only.

5. Deposit box at County Hall 
The box is located beside the main doors on the south side of County Hall,  2001 Sherwood Drive, Sherwood Park. Should you require a receipt, the entire notice  must be enclosed with the payment.

6. In person – Heartland Hall Contact Office

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Your entire Assessment and Tax Notice is required when paying
Payment by cheque only. 

7. In person – County Hall
2001 Sherwood Drive, Sherwood Park
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Your entire Assessment and Tax Notice is required when paying
Post-dated cheques are accepted. 
Interac payments are accepted. Check with your financial institution to ensure your transaction limit is sufficient. 
Credit cards not accepted for payment. 

Parking: 
15-minute public parking is available at the east side of County Hall.
Northside of Community Centre, no charge, as per signs.
Community Centre Parkade, P1 level, paid parking 7am - 5pm weekdays.
